Exhibit Floor Plan Full – Regular Registration Open

The 18 exhibit spaces that opened up after last year’s show have now been filled from the exhibitor waiting list. There are still “Meeting Tabletops” available in separate rooms that companies can use for exhibit displays and a base of operations at the show. Also, there are 6 exhibit spots remaining in the “Research Showcase” area, which has been moved to the front registration lobby this year. Companies in this section need to be North American-based suppliers of chemical research and development services to qualify. See the link below for more details:

Planning Travel:

Hotels + Earlier Opening For Exhibits

The Belmond Charleston Place and Marriott Renaissance room blocks are sold-out. There are still rooms available at the Marriott Courtyard – as well as many nearby hotels that are reasonably priced and easy walking distance (Double Tree Hilton, Mills House Wyndham).

Note that the exhibition floor will open earlier in 2017 at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 6th, along with the exhibitor showcase presentation program. Our smaller booth and tabletop format will remain the same so exhibitors should have plenty of time travel to Charleston and set-up before 1:00 PM.

Update On Future Plans:

Accommodate Growth But Still “Stay Small-Scale”

I have been surveying attendees over the past couple years for input on the best future direction for our show. Charleston has been an ideal event location, but the exhibitor waiting list is now at 100+ companies and our function space is maxed out at the Belmond. After this September’s show, I believe a larger hotel space would really help us to continue serving our market successfully in 2018. The logical next step for finding a bigger venue is to look in a larger city. However, after researching numerous options, the bottom line is none of them seem to be worth trading what we currently have in Charleston.

Therefore, I’m returning to a previous idea and suggesting a smaller city for 2018 – Norfolk, Virginia. The premise is that what we may give up in “destination appeal” in Charleston, will be made up for in trying something new and growing in Norfolk, while still having a good range of nice restaurants and historical attractions to visit (see Norfolk’s listing in Travel & Leisure’s “Best Places” list at below link).

The Norfolk Hilton’s grand ballroom would give us 30% more exhibit space compared to Charleston. There is also an option to use a second adjacent ballroom for additional exhibits, and the Norfolk Marriott is directly across the street with a lot of overflow space for meals and/or conference sessions. More details will follow, as the proposed host Hilton hotel is still in final construction phase and will officially open in the first week of April (see 2nd link below).
